Knox County Courthouse placed on lockdown after shooting threat

The Knox County Courthouse was briefly placed on emergency lockdown on Wednesday because of a shooting threat received.

The Sheriff’s Department through a news release says that 30-year-old Matthew Sullivan of Galesburg called the courthouse’s traffic division about ongoing cases.

Sullivan on the phone call then threatened to “shoot up” the courthouse.

Sheriff Jack Harlan ordered the Knox County Courthouse to be locked down until the situation was under control.

Deputies located Sullivan at a Galesburg residence and took him into custody before any threats could be carried out.

Sullivan is currently in the custody of the Knox County Jail on a charge of felony disorderly conduct and is being held as he awaits a bond hearing.
