Galesburg Police last Tuesday were dispatched to the 800 block of West Main Street for a report of a stolen vehicle. A then 41-year-old man told police his wife drove his 2015 Chevy Malibu to work that day. When the man’s wife went to leave work that day, the keys to the car were missing from her coat pocket, and the car was gone. The man also received a message on Facebook from an unknown individual claiming a coworker of his wife stole the car.
The following day, officers were dispatched to Casey’s on West Main Street after the vehicle’s owner found the car sitting at one of the gas pumps. The man blocked the car in at the pump and a female suspect fled the area on foot with the car keys. The man was able to identify the female as a 17-year-old who is a coworker of the man’s wife. Officers viewed security footage of the incident at Casey’s. Officers attempted to locate the female teen with no success. The female was added to the GPD’s pending arrest list and is facing a charge of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.
