Galesburg Police responded to an apartment at Moon Towers on Friday night for a battery that had just occurred. Officers met with a 64-year-old man who had a cut on his arm and was bleeding from his mouth. The man said his 40-year-old son and another man were inside the apartment and they got upset when they were told to leave. It’s unclear why the man wanted his son to leave, but according to police reports, the man “didn’t want to get in trouble.” Most visitors are required to be approved with a visitor’s pass at Knox County Housing Authority properties. The man’s son pulled a knife on him and then cut him on the arm and kicked him in the face. The 40-year-old then ran away and departed on a bike in an unknown direction. The man was added to the Galesburg Police Department’s pending arrest list and is facing charges of Domestic Battery causing bodily harm, Aggravated Battery to a Senior Citizen, and Aggravated Battery with a weapon.
A 25-year-old Galesburg man is facing a variety of charges after Galesburg Police met with a female victim Saturday at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center who was battered by her boyfriend. The 19-year-old woman said the incident happened the previous day when an argument turned physical at their residence on Peck Street. The woman said her boyfriend, who had been served an Order of Protection back in September, became irate and threw a chair at her striking her in her back. Then as the woman attempted to leave the house, the man grabbed her by the back of her neck and smashed her head into the frame of a doorway. The woman said it was painful to breathe and her torso had soreness. Police were unable to make contact with the man. He was added to the GPD’s pending arrest list and is facing charges of Domestic Battery and Violating an Order of Protection.
Galesburg Police shortly after 7:00 pm on Saturday responded to the 2000 block of Baird Avenue for a report of a physical domestic disturbance. A woman called 911, and when dispatchers called the woman back she said she did not need help but was also overheard telling a male subject not to put his hands on her again. Officers arrived at the residence and could hear yelling inside. Officers then kicked in the door after they could hear the woman call for help. Police made contact with a 49-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man who were both heavily intoxicated. The man denied being physical with the woman. The woman had redness around her neck and said the man was choking her and she was unable to breathe. The man was transported to the Knox County Jail and charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery.
