Knox County residents are going to get to know a lot of Charlottes, Theodores, and Kais over the next few decades.
Those were the top baby names in Knox County for 2022 according to Knox County Clerk Scott Erickson.
Erickson’s office compiled the list from all the 643 births that occurred in Knox County over the past year.
Erickson says the race for the top name is sometimes “pretty close” while other times there’s a “dominant winner”.
Girls
There weren’t any runaways for the top spots in 2022, but Charlotte was the top girl name with 5 babies born, followed by Ivy and Olivia each with 4 babies.
Then there were 3 babies each for Ava, Chloe, Ella, Hannah, Hazel, Nora, Ophelia, and Sophia.
Boys
Kai and Theodore were tied for the top among the boy names with 5 babies each.
There were also 4 each named Hudson and Michael.
There were also 3 boys for Benjamin, Cole, David, Daxton, Declan, Henry, Jameson, Jaxon, Oliver, Ryker, Samuel and Wyatt.
Knox County isn’t so out of line with national trends. According to babynames.com in 2022, Theodore was the second most popular boy name, Charlotte was the third most popular girl name and Kai was the 7th most popular gender-neutral name.
