The Prairie Fire took control in the second half by outscoring the Rams 15-5 and 25-10 in the last two quarters. Knox showed dominance through all phases of the game.

The scoring for the Prairie Fire was pretty even with Catessa Duran leading with 15 points. Kristin Herndon had 12 points as well as 12 rebounds for a double-double. Haylee Carpenter knocked down four three-pointers for a total of 12 points in her big return game. Loraya Rocha added 10 points as well, another good performance off the bench.

“I am extremely proud of this team tonight. Cornell is a great, solid team that hit us with a good punch to begin the game. Our girls weathered the hit and continued to be disciplined in our approach, with handling not only the aggressive zone defense but also their own offensive flow. We like to reiterate in our program, it’s not how you start but how you finish the game. And we did just that!! The next two practices will be focused solely on our next opponent.”

The Fire travel to Beloit on January 14 to play in yet another conference matchup and hope to keep their undefeated streak alive.
