Man found guilty of attempted first degree murder in shooting at Belle Isle Apartments

On Wednesday, a Knox County jury found 38-year-old Brandon Wilson guilty of Attempted First Degree Murder in connection with March 3, 2022, shooting at Belle Isle Apartments. The apartments are in the 1400 block of N. West Street in Galesburg. According to a press release from Knox County State’s Attorney Jeremy Karlin, after a three-day jury trial, the jury deliberated for an hour before returning a guilty verdict on the attempted murder charge.

The jury also found Wilson guilty on charges of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon. Wilson will remain in custody until his sentencing hearing later this year.

Karlin said, “This case was magnificently tried by Assistant State’s Attorney Ashley Worby. The work done here is another example of the priority this office places on the prosecution of crimes of violence and gun crimes. In the months to come, we will be trying crimes of violence and gun crimes before Knox County juries and after obtaining guilty verdicts, seeking significant jail sentences.”
