Galesburg Police on Friday afternoon responded to the area of East Main and Farnham Streets for a disturbance involving suspicious people. Dispatch received reports that two male subjects and a female subject were walking in the area armed with what appeared to be a rifle. Officers searched the area, but then found the individuals seated at a table inside Kentucky Fried Chicken with what looked like a rifle leaning against a corner near where they sat. King Elementary School and Lombard Jr. High were both put on lockdown due to the report. Police made contact with the three. One of the men, a 62-year-old, told police he got his airsoft pistol from Pawn Central and purchased a pellet gun rifle there as well. The man had the butt of the pistol sticking out of his waistline and both items appeared realistic. Individuals in the area and KFC staff were alarmed not knowing the man’s intentions and due to the man making no attempt to conceal it. The man was taken into custody and transported to the Knox County Jail. Due to the disturbance that caused the area schools to lock down, the man is facing a State Disorderly Conduct charge.
