Galesburg High School wrestler Annalisa Gibbons won her first match before dropping her next two in the 140-pound weight class at the IHSA Girls State Wrestling finals Friday at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington.

A sophomore, Gibbons is the first female wrestler to advance to state for Galesburg High School. It’s the second year the IHSA has had individual girls wrestling.

Gibbons defeated Faith Comas of Berwyn-Cicero (Morton) by an 8-7 decision in the preliminary round.

She then lost to Mackenzie Pratt of Edwardsville by fall (1:10) in the quarterfinals. Ava Vasey of Unity defeated Gibbons by fall (2:38) in the second round wrestlebacks.
