BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Tyrell Pierce and Derrick Jackson both earned All-American status at the 2023 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday. Pierce finished fifth overall in the men’s 400m with a PR and Knox record time of 47.87. “We’ve been building up to this all season and today put together a great race,” said head coach Evander Wells. Jackson also placed fifth overall in the men’s 60m (6.79). His time was also a PR and Knox record. “This was a well executed race and we got a PR out of it,” added Wells. “We can’t ask for anything more than a PR in a championship final.” With two fifth place finishes, the Prairie Fire had enough points to place 25th in the nation. Pierce and Jackson will now return to work as they seek to attend the 2023 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Rochester, New York from May 25-27.
