Galesburg police made two DUI arrests early last week

Galesburg Police last Sunday night observed a sedan traveling eastbound on Main Street with no headlights on. The sedan was stopped in the 400 block of East Main Street. Officers made contact with the 40-year-old male driver and detected an alcoholic odor coming from the vehicle. Police had the man conduct a field sobriety test which indicated signs of impairment and he was placed under arrest. He was charged with DUI A1 and DUI A2 for having a BAC of .168.

Police last Tuesday night observed a sedan run a stop sign and then conducted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Grand Avenue. Police made contact with the 23-year-old male driver, and after telling the man they could detect a cannabis odor, the man handed police a lit joint. Inside the vehicle, police found a baggie containing several burnt joints as well as a rolling tray. The man displayed signs of impairment during a field sobriety test and he was arrested. The man was charged with DUI – Drugs, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, and Disregarding a Stop Sign.
