This week: Try Two New Tasty Options in Galesburg

Don’t feel like cooking this week? No problem! Galesburg welcomed two new restaurants this week – Double Play and Pho Lover. Double Play features a menu with gourmet hot dogs, smash burgers, nachos, and a variety of snacks. Grab some takeaway at their location at 1315 E. Losey St. Or try authentic Vietnamese cuisine from Pho Lover, featuring pho, banh mi, and bubble tea, as well as a variety of other flavors. Dine in or carry out from their location at 1349 N. Henderson St. Enjoy!

Thursday: Backpocket at The Bar 65

It’s a Tap Takeover at The Bar 65! Backpocket Brewing, based out of Iowa, is releasing Bar 65’s very own Pale Ale. Try it for yourself from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 23 at 65 S. Cherry Street. Have Sam pour you a pint or two and celebrate this tasty collaboration!

Friday-Sunday: Steel Magnolias on Stage

Prairie Players Civic Theatre presents Steel Magnolias, written by Robert Harling, and set in a Louisiana beauty salon. Filled with hilarious repartee and humorously revealing verbal collisions, the play moves toward tragedy. Realization of morality, underlying strength, and love give the play and its characters the special quality to make them truly touching, funny, and amiable. Saturday: Clarinet and Piano Performance for Public

Jill Marasa and Nancy Ohlbach will present works for clarinet and piano at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 25 at Knox College’s Kresge Recital Hall, in the Ford Center of Fine Arts. Feature works include Max Reger, Christopher Stanichar, Frances Poulenc, and Johannes Brahmns. Stanichar will make a guest appearance as composer and conductor. This event is presented by Knox College Music Department. It is free and open to the public.
