Shortly after midnight on Friday morning (March 17th), Galesburg Police conducted a traffic stop on a sedan in the 200 block of North Henderson Street where the male driver had the driver’s side door open and was throwing up in the roadway while traveling northbound. The driver pulled into a driveway in the 500 block of North Henderson Street and immediately got out of the vehicle. The 39-year-old man told police he had been drinking at a bar downtown and the “last shot got to him.” The man did not have an insurance card, the vehicle’s registration was expired, and the vehicle’s windshield had a “spider-web” crack obstructing the driver’s view. Officers had the man perform a field sobriety test which indicated signs of impairment and he was placed under arrest. A preliminary breath test read the man’s BAC as .151. The man was transported to the Public Safety Building and then to the Knox County Jail. He was charged with DUI A2, no insurance, and expired registration, and was warned about his defective windshield and unsafe opening and closing of vehicle doors.
