Easter egg-citement!
You’ll need more than one basket for all the eggs found in the local hunts! From adults, to children, and even the fur babies, there’s fun hidden all around Galesburg to celebrate the occasion.
- Start your hunt on Friday at the Glow-in-the-Dark Hunt at Lakeside Nature Center, hosted by Galesburg Parks and Recreation.
- Follow it up with a hunt for the furry friends at Connie Nott Dog Park from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday.
- A traditional hunt is set for noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at Lakeside Recreation Facility. For more information and to register, visit www.ci.galesburg.il.us/parksandrec. Join the Easter Bunny for the largest FREE Easter Egg Hunt in Knox County this Sunday, April 2, 2023. There will be 10,000 candy filled eggs and a series of grand prizes. The Recreation Mobile Playground will be on-site from Noon-2:00 p.m., with Hy-Vee offering an affordable hotdog lunch special. Egg hunt will be divided by age groups. Bring a basket to hold your eggs and candy or get a free tote bag while supplies last. Come early, and bring your own camera, to get a picture with the Easter Bunny.
- But that’s not all! Head on over to The Play Yard in Knoxville for “Egg Hunt and Play” on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Registration is required, visit www.theplayyardil.com to sign up your egg hunter!

Are you ready kids? The Spongebob Musical hits the stage!
Based on the popular Nickelodeon series by Stephen Hillenberg, The Galesburg High School Theater Department will present its spring musical, The Spongebob Musical, on Friday, March 31 through Sunday, April 2, at the Hegg Performing Arts Center. The Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 7 p.m. The Sunday matinee will begin at 2 p.m. Adult Tickets are $5 and Children and Senior Tickets are $3. CUSD #205 staff and students-Free Admittance.
GALEX returns to Galesburg
View the nearly complete main floor gallery space at the Galesburg Community Arts Center when you join them for their first GALEX opening reception since 2019! One-hundred pieces from 22 states will be on exhibit and competing for cash awards totaling $2,500. Claire Ashley, School of the Art Institute of Chicago will make Juror’s Comments and award announcements at 6:30pm. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served, along with a cash bar. Big Read = Big Fun
Kick off the 2023 NEA Big Read at the Orpheum Theatre with a free improv performance by Stir Friday Night, Chicago’s longest-running Asian American comedy team! Performing their newest show, the Improvised Martial Art Movie, the PG-13 audience will be captured by completely improvised fight choreography. Doors open at 7:30pm and admission is free. This event is part of Galesburg Public Library’s NEA Big Read of Interior Chinatown by Charles Yu. Free copies of Interior Chinatown will be available at the event. Prom with a Purpose
Prom with a Purpose, hosted by United Way of Knox County, makes its inaugural debut on Saturday, April 1st at the Knoxville American Legion. Dance the night away with music from Jera and the Absoluts, while enjoying free, delicious desserts, cash bar, 50/50 raffle, games, liquor pull, and much more. Tickets are on sale now for $30 each or $50 a pair, in advance at www.unitedway-knoxcounty.org/prom-with-a-purpose. Tickets will be available at the door for $35 each. All proceeds from Prom with a Purpose will support United Way of Knox County’s Unmet Needs Fund. This fund assists Knox County families with one-time assistance such as utility bills, rent, purchasing steel toe boots for employees to start their first job, supply local children with beds, and much more. Must be 21-plus.
