A 65-year-old Galesburg man and a 42-year-old Knoxville man are being investigated for an internal theft at Bridgeway following the former employees’ terminations. Galesburg Police responded to a maintenance shed on Windish Drive owned by Bridgeway on Friday morning and met with employees. Staff was first tipped off on the internal theft when neither former maintenance worker turned in coins from the laundry machines for well over a year. The machines bring in around $3500 annually. Staff then learned the two had turned in numerous loads of scrap metal from Bridgeway, while in a Bridgeway maintenance truck, and collected the cash. GPD then learned the former employees each had a company credit card to purchase whatever tools and equipment they needed. The two made over 37 transactions at Menards totaling well over $1,000 in purchases. None of the equipment purchased could be located following their termination. At the time of the report, neither suspect had been questioned yet. The incident has been turned over to GPD’s Special Operations for an investigation.
