Galesburg’s Memorial Day Parade hits Main Street on Monday. Here are the details.

The Galesburg Memorial Day Parade steps off at 10 a.m. Monday.

Parade participants are asked to arrive by 9:00 to line up at the corner of Chambers and Main Streets.

The parade route will take participants down E. Main St. to Cherry St., then turn onto S. Cherry and travel past the Knox County Courthouse.

Fran Hawthorne with the American Legion Post Auxiliary tells WGIL that the parade will wrap up early enough leaving watchers with plenty of time to get to a Memorial Day cookout.

As of Friday, May 26, there were 24 participants signed up to march in the parade, including the Galesburg High School band.

Knox County Sheriff Jack Harlan will serve as the Grand Marshal for the parade. Harlan served in the United States Army for over 20 years and was elected as Sheriff in November.
