An investigation is underway by Galesburg Police after a 15-year-old girl jumped from a moving vehicle to escape an unknown male subject. GPD caught up with the teen victim and her aunt. The teen was bleeding heavily from a head injury as well as injuries to her arms and legs. The girl was taken to OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center and eventually airlifted to OSF St. Francis. The victim’s parents refused to cooperate with police and DCFS was notified of the incident. According to a friend of the teen, the victim had been spending time and going on walks with an unknown male subject.
Yesterday, the teen met up with the male suspect and entered his vehicle before the man sped off down McClure Street. The girl said she felt scared and determined that jumping from the vehicle was her safest option. Police observed a blood trail near where the girl jumped out and collected the girl’s phone, shoes, jewelry, and pieces of her hair. The victim did not consent to officers searching her phone. The victim’s belongings were collected as evidence and the investigation is ongoing.
