Chicago woman facing DUI and firearm charges after Monday morning stop

.

Just before 2:00 in the morning on Monday, Galesburg Police observed a vehicle traveling westbound on East Main Street without a front license plate. The vehicle also changed lanes without signaling and was swerving back and forth inside the lane of traffic touching the center line several times. Police made contact with the 41-year-old female driver from Chicago who provided police with her Driver’s License and FOID Card. The woman’s movements were slow and given the reason for the stop, police asked the woman to conduct a field sobriety test. The woman advised to officers she had a concealed firearm in a holster on her hip. Police removed the gun and the woman performed the field sobriety test showing signs of impairment. Officers then learned there was no record of the 9mm firearm on file. The gun was loaded with a round in the chamber. Inside the vehicle, police found another firearm in a case under the driver’s seat along with two more magazines of ammunition and six live ammunition rounds and a third firearm magazine in the center console. The woman’s male passenger admitted the two had been drinking. The woman refused to provide a breath sample and was eventually transported to the Knox County Jail. She was charged with DUI and Violation of the Firearm Concealed Carry Act.
