From Cafe in the Park to Railroad Days: Here are 5 things to do in Galesburg this week

Wednesday: Café in the Park

Come spend your lunch break in Downtown Galesburg with us! Galesburg’s Café in the Park, hosted by Dick Blick, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21 at Park Plaza. This event features great eats, such as Big Catz BBQ, MB’s Food Truck, The Watering Hole, and Foodoodz Food Truck, as well as live music from local musician Devin Flanagin! Bring the kids out and enjoy activities such as Galesburg’s Mobile Playground, Skate Palace’s Bounce Houses, Reading Hour with Rowan, Discovery Depot, and Face Painting! Thursday – Saturday: Railroad Days

Galesburg’s 45th annual Railroad Days festival returns to downtown Galesburg from June 22 through June 25, offering fun for the whole family! Railroad Days is a community-wide summer festival celebrating Galesburg’s roots in the railroad. At this four-day event, you can expect to find ticketed and non-ticketed events, such as: 

  • Carnival Rides
  • Firefighter Water Fights
  • Vendor Market
  • Railroad Photography Exhibit
  • A Block Party with Live Music
  • Museum and Rail Yard Tours
  • The Largest Model Train Show in the Midwest
  • Free Railroad-Themed Movie Screenings 
  • The Highwaymen Show – American Outlaw Tribute

Friday: Chew Chew & Brew Block Party

Chug on down to the Chew Chew & Brew Block Party, sponsored by G & M Distributors, Inc., from 5 to 10 p.m. June 24 at Park Plaza!  With a $5 entry, cash only, enjoy live music from DJ Jordan Henley and Midwest Hype starting at 5:30 p.m. and kids activities from the Galesburg Mobile Playground from 5-7 p.m. Enjoy local food and drinks from Bar 65, 156 East, Iron Spike, Coney Island, Cherry Street, and The Pizza House! Saturday: Farmers Market

The Galesburg Farmers’ Market is your one-stop-shop for all the local goods you need, from fresh fruits and veggies, meats and eggs, honey, baked goods and prepared foods, handmade crafts and jewelry, and so much more. Find us in downtown Galesburg near the corner of Simmons and Seminary from 8 a.,m.to noon every Saturday, May through September.

Saturday & Sunday: The Galesburg Train Show

The Galesburg Train Show offers fun for the entire family & all ages! Located at Knox College in the T. Fleming Fieldhouse, experience one of the largest Midwest train shows with 80+ vendors & exhibitors. Come on out Saturday, June 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, June 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with just a $5 admission fee, and kids under 12 being free. Taking place during the annual Galesburg Railroad Days festival, the train show includes:

  • More than 350 tables of model trains, books, videos, t-shirts, and memorabilia
  • Train sets to be given away hourly
  • Food & drinks available
  • Handicap accessibility & stroller friendly
  • Operating model railroad layouts of various scales
