Galesburg man charged with DUI after found asleep behind the wheel in a cornfield.

Galesburg Police in the early morning hours on Wednesday responded to the 2300 block of North Seminary Street in reference to a male driver asleep while in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Officers arrived on the scene. The van was located in the middle of the cornfield behind Burger King. The van was running and was in “drive.” Officers shook the vehicle to wake the driver up who screamed in fright when awaking. The 48-year-old Galesburg man did not know where he was or how he got into the cornfield. The man had difficulty staying awake – he had pinpoint pupils and a brown, sticky substance on his mouth. The man could not conduct a field sobriety test and he was transported to OSF for an evaluation where he received Narcan. The man was eventually discharged and transported to the Knox County Jail. He was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs A4.
