Galesburg Police around 7:15 pm last night responded to the 400 block of East South Street for a report of criminal damage that had occurred. Upon arrival at Schott’s Auto Machine Shop, Galesburg Police observed numerous windows on the north side of the building were shattered. The business had political posters hanging in each of the north side double pane windows. Officers observed large chunks of asphalt inside the business indicating they were thrown through the windows. A total of five windows were damaged costing around $8,000 total to replace. The business has security cameras and the footage was to be reviewed by the business owner and police. The incident remains under investigation.
