Galesburg Police in the early morning hours on Sunday morning, responded to a home in the 700 block of East Davis Street for a trespassing complaint. A 28-year-old man told police he could hear someone in the basement of his 57-year-old mother’s house. Police entered the house and first observed a near-empty bottle of alcohol sitting on the counter. Police went to the basement where they discovered a 43-year-old Galesburg woman in a state of undress claiming to be the homeowner. Officers identified the woman from previous police encounters and the residents did not know the woman. Throughout the course of the investigation, police concluded that the woman gained entry to the backyard, opened the main garage door and turned on the light, and then entered the house through an unlocked door. The woman drank the bottle of gin found on the table and then rummaged through the entirety of the basement. The woman also rummaged through a vehicle, and police located the woman’s purse which contained a baggie with suspected methamphetamine. The woman also has a valid $30,000 warrant out of Henry County. The woman was charged with Criminal Trespass to Residence, Criminal Trespass to Vehicle, Obstructing Justice, Obstructing Identification, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
