The Knox County Sheriff says a Henderson, Illinois, man has been arrested and is being accused of battering his infant son.
Treyshawn McLaren, 26, was taken into custody Wednesday night. He was charged with Aggravated Battery to a Child Causing Great Bodily Harm Under 13, Aggravated Domestic Battery, and Endangering the Health and Welfare of a Child.
According to a news release from the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched to an apartment in Henderson around 5 p.m. Tuesday for an unresponsive 3-month-old.
Paramedics began performing CPR on the infant when they arrived but Life Flight was requested to transport the child to OSF St. Francis in Peoria.
The infant’s father was home at the time of the incident. Later Wednesday night investigators learned from OSF that injuries sustained were the result of trauma.
The Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office filed formal charges Thursday and filed a petition to detain. McLaren was placed on supervised release by the presiding Judge and released from the Knox County Jail.
The man’s preliminary hearing was set for 1 p.m. Oct. 18.
