A Galesburg man is facing charges after refusing to follow traffic orders and traffic signage while North Henderson Street was blocked off Friday night due to a critical accident. North Henderson Street from West Losey to Harvey Street was blocked off Friday night for emergency responders due to a critical vehicle accident. WGIL will have more details on the accident as they become official. A pickup truck was attempting to drive around a Community Service Officer and into the accident scene. When more officers arrived, the man was already out of the truck and was detained. The man said he was attempting to get to Circle K – which was south of the accident location, and the man was headed north. When police asked the 53-year-old man, who was emitting an alcoholic odor, if he had been drinking, his response was, “Of course.” The man refused to perform a field sobriety test or provide a breath sample. He also refused to speak to police. The man was transported to the Knox County Jail and was charged with Driving Under the Influence A2, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Disobeying a Traffic Control Officer.
