Teens suspected of stealing firearms from Grove Street residence

Galesburg Police on Saturday responded to the 800 block of Grove Street for a burglary report. Police met with a 38-year-old woman who said she had been letting the 15-year-old friend of her 14-year-old son stay with them. The woman said she found out on Wednesday that the 15-year-old was supposed to be on house arrest and she kicked him out. This angered her son, and the two boys left the residence earlier that day. After kicking the boy out, the woman discovered broken basement windows in her house. On Saturday, the woman discovered a second-floor window was broken someone burglarized her house and a firearm was stolen. Missing was a black Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-automatic pistol, a Walther PPQ .22 caliber pistol, a .22 caliber and 9mm speed loader, .22 caliber ammo, 9mm ammo, magazines, and an Xbox. The woman gave police the names of more juveniles that frequent her house as well. Officers then followed up with relatives and guardians of the other suspected juveniles with no success. The whereabouts of the other juveniles were also unknown and relatives were looking for them as well. The firearms were listed as stolen. The investigation is ongoing.
