The Galesburg Marching Streaks will wrap up a successful fall marching season by competing at the Bands of America Regional on Saturday in St. Louis.
The Marching Streaks, Galesburg High School’s marching band, began its season with band camp the last week of July and have been working this season to refine and perform its 2023 field show “The Lonely Road.”
The show concept is based on the Robert Frost poem, “The Road Not Taken” and features music: Angles in the Architecture by Frank Tichelli, Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day, Winter by Vivaldi, and close with Paint it Black by the Rolling Stones.
The music and drill for their show was arranged and written by Ted Reicher. This year, the band has performed at four field competitions and will wrap up their season this weekend at the Bands of America Regional competition in St. Louis.
The Marching Streaks have 151 members, including 48 freshmen.
“The band program has seen a lot of growth this year and are a young band,” said Andy Empey, District 205 director of bands. “The students have worked so hard this season and have improved each week.
“Regardless of the competitions, I’m proud of our students for putting forth an incredible effort and performing and entertaining our audiences at a high level. This has been a great season and we are all very proud of our Marching Streaks.”
