Sunday, around 7:10 in the morning, Galesburg Police responded to Taco Bell on East Main Street for a report of a possibly intoxicated driver. Upon arrival, officers were told by a Taco Bell employee that a male subject was attempting to order food at the drive-thru. When employees did not get a response from the man, they went to check on him and found him unconscious on the ground behind his vehicle. Galesburg Police administered a dose of Narcan and Galesburg Fire responded and administered a second dose. GHAS arrived on scene and transported to the man to OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center. Hospital staff reported that after the second dose of Narcan, the man’s breathing began to normalize. The 36-year-old Wataga man admitted to doctors that he snorted heroin. The man was eventually transported to the Knox County Jail. He was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs.
