Arnold Street residence sustains smoke, fire damage

An unoccupied Arnold Street residence sustained smoke and fire damage Thursday night.

According to a news release, the Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 66 Arnold St. at 10:22 p.m. Thursday. Upon arrival, personnel encountered smoke coming from the eaves and the rear of the residence.

The Brooks Street Station crew made entry through the rear of the residence to extinguish the fire.

The fire caused smoke damage throughout the first floor and fire damage near the area of origin. There were no occupants inside the residence at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

Preliminary damage estimates are at $15,000.

Galesburg Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire to be unintentional.
