
A Knox College alum is an Emmy award winner. Vir Das, Knox College Class of 2002, has received an International Emmy in Comedy for his Netflix comedy special “Vir Das: Landing.” This makes him the first Indian comedian to achieve this feat.
Das, recognized as a trailblazer in India’s modern stand-up comedy scene, expressed his joy at the win, calling it “an incredible honor that feels like a dream.”
“This moment is truly surreal—an incredible honor that feels like a dream. Winning an Emmy for ‘Vir Das: Landing’ in the Comedy Category is not just a milestone for me but for Indian comedy as a whole,” he shared with Hindustan Times.

The 51st International Emmy Awards were held Nov. 20 in New York.
Das was the featured speaker at the 2018 Knox College Commencement exercises. According to Knox College story previewing his appearance, Das has cemented himself as the biggest English-speaking comedian in India, as well as one of the country’s top actors, writers, musicians, and festival producers.
