Galesburg woman wanted for shoplifting on Thanksgiving Day gets arrested for shoplifting again, four days later

A 47-year-old Galesburg woman who was added to the Galesburg Police Department’s pending arrest list on Thanksgiving Day for shoplifting at Walmart was arrested on Monday after she attempted to shoplift again. Galesburg Police responded to Walmart on Monday afternoon and met with asset protection employees who said the woman was currently in the store stealing items. The woman, at the time, was at the self-checkout but was seen placing items in a book bag. Back on Thanksgiving, the woman entered the store with an empty bag and then left with a bag full of unpaid items. Officers and employees waited for the woman to reach the last point of sale. As the woman exited the store, she attempted to push passed employees and then push off police and attempt to flee. The woman was detained. The woman was in possession of over $250 worth of unpaid merchandise. The woman was eventually transported to the Knox County Jail. She was charged with Felony Retail Theft, the warrant for Retail Theft, and Resisting a Peace Officer.
