The number of Galesburg Pizza Huts has been sliced in half. The familiar red roof remains, however Pizza Hut location at 1555 E. Main Street in Galesburg is permanently closed.

All signage as been removed from the exterior of the property, and a sign on the door reads:

To our valued customers: Effective December 5, 2023 this location is closed. Please come visit us at our Fremont Street location. Thank you for your business. We look forward to serving you.

Pizza Hut in Galesburg Illinois

The Pizza Hut at 896 W. Fremont St. in Galesburg remains open.

Darren Grady, general manager for the Galesburg Pizza Hut restaurants, tells WGIL “The only thing I can say is we consolidated operations into our Pizza Hut on Fremont Street and we’re looking forward to serving customers in Galesburg.”

The East Main Pizza Hut was built in 1975 according to a spokesperson in the Galesburg City Assessor office. An addition to the building was made in 1999.

Galesburg’s first Pizza Hut opened in 1969 at 896 W. Fremont St. The building was demolished and a new one was built in 2006.

According to its website, Pizza Hut has more than 16,000 restaurants and 350,000 team members in more than 100 countries. The first Pizza Hut opened in 1958 in Wichita, Kansas.
