The VNA will receive $20,000 from the Charitable Trust Grant after being among the 10 selected after 90 organizations applied.
VNA Executive Director Michael Bennett says that the funds are a “vital lifeline” for their programs, particularly as they witness an increasing demand for services.
Currently, over 3,000 meals are distributed monthly to Knox County seniors.
With rising food and labor costs, Bennett says the grant ensures VNA’s ability to continue these essential programs and meet the required 15% cash match for full program funding each fiscal year.
Still, Bennett says the community’s support is much needed as the grant covers only about one-fifth of outside funds needed for the year.
VNA is also looking to raise $25,000 by the end of 2024 for their facility to get a new roof.
