Children’s author and illustrator Nancy Carlson visiting Knox County in February

The United Way of Knox County announced that they will host their Annual Awards reception on February 29th, with keynote speaker Nancy Carlson.

Carlson is an accomplished children’s book author and illustrator who has published more than 60 books.

Locally, she is best known for her book “Look Out Kindergarten, Here I Come!” as it is the graduation book delivered to every child enrolled in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library the month of their fifth birthday.

United Way of Knox County is the local partner for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which provides free, high-quality, and age-appropriate books to children from birth to age five.

Carlson will join the Awards Reception on Feb. 29th at Cedar Creek Hall at 5:30 p.m. to discuss her work and the importance of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

Thanks to a sponsorship from the Regional Office of Education #33, Carlson will also be visiting 6 Knox County elementary schools while she is in town to help kick off March’s Reading Awareness Month.

United Way of Knox County’s 2024 Awards Reception is open to the public.  The cost of the event is $30.00 per person.
