Peoria man facing battery charges facing more charges after traffic stop

More details about the arrest of a 34-year-old Peoria man who battered a 20-year-old woman have been released. On Tuesday, WGIL reported the man was arrested on Sunday after a 20-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl reported the man battered one of the females and items were missing during a night of drinking on Saturday. On Sunday the man was seen driving a Kia vehicle that was bearing the registration to a Chrysler sedan. GPD conducted a traffic stop on the Kia on East Knox Street. The man had four other passengers with him. A 28-year-old Peoria woman had cannabis as observed by police while searching for her ID. The woman had several baggies of cannabis in her purse and a baggie containing several MDMA pills. Police also discovered a 27-year-old Chicago man in the back seat had a valid Knox County warrant for DUI, a Rock Island warrant for Obstruction, and two warrants out of Davenport for Domestic Abuse and Theft. In addition to his warrant for Aggravated Battery the night before, the 34-year-old man was charged with Improper Registration, No Insurance, and Possession of Cannabis. The 28-year-old woman was charged with Possession of Cannabis and Possession of a Controlled Substance. All three subjects were transported to the Knox County Jail.
