Vickie Sue Masters, 70, of Dahinda, Illinois, was called home to heaven by her Lord at 5:17 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2024, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
She was born October 24, 1953, in Pekin, Illinois, the daughter of Jack and Mary L. (West) Mandrell. Vickie was reared and educated in Pekin, graduating from Pekin Community High School in 1972. She was a dedicated homemaker, mother, and caretaker. Vickie was joined in marriage to the love of her life, David W. Masters on January 12, 1973 in Pekin.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 51 years, David Masters of Dahinda; her son, Brandon (Dustin) Masters of Pekin; two brothers, Stan (Judy) Mandrell of Pekin and Cary (Megan) Mandrell of East Peoria, Illinois; one sister, Sheila (Bill) Farris of Pekin; and three brothers-in-law: Dale (Judy) Masters of Marietta, Georgia, Randy (Lynne) Masters of Pekin, and Terry (Kitty) Masters of Round Lake Beach, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Sonia Mandrell.
Vickie was a committed follower of Jesus. She loved her time each day listening to Him through reading God’s Word and praying for family and friends. Vickie was a member of The Oaks Community Church in Dahinda. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s fan and an extreme animal lover. Vickie was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, and friend and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory in Galesburg. Another visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, at The Oak’s Community Church in Dahinda. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Pastor Marty Briney will officiate. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Memorial contributions may be made to The Oak’s Community Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
