Carole A. Stevens, age 89, of Elmore, Illinois, died at 1:28 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024, at OSF Sr. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois.
She was born on September 11, 1934, in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Lee and Helen (Speilman) Pittman. She attended and graduated from Williamsfield High School and then graduated from the former Galesburg Cottage Hospital School of Nursing. She married Jack Stevens on September 5, 1952, in Galesburg, Illinois.
Surviving is her husband, Jack Stevens of Elmore, Illinois, and two daughters, Jackie (Geri) Lofgren of Gilson, Illinois, and Starla (Glen) Knox of Holiday, Florida; 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; two brothers, Jim (Angela) Pittman of California and Gary (Ellie) Pittman of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Joe and Bob; two sisters, Dariel and Harriett, and three brothers, Jack, David and Bruce.
She was a nurse for the former Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois, and OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to Florida for the past 20 years. She also loved being with her grandchildren and attending their activities.
Funeral Services will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024, with a visitation one hour prior to the services at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois, with a fellowship to fellow at the Hurd-Hendricks Fellowship Center. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Glendale Cemetery in Elmore, Illinois. In-lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital or the Williamsfield United Methodist Church.
