UPDATE: Monmouth residents lose power Tuesday, Ameren assessing the outage

About 2,000 Ameren customers in Monmouth were without power Tuesday morning.

Ellie Leonard  with Ameren’s communications team says crews found a piece of equipment in a substation that malfunctioned and they were on the scene assessing the outage.

Ameren says it’s bringing in a mobile substation to help several hundred customers get back on line, but rerouting of power helped the rest.

All should be taken care of by 10 p.m. Tuesday, but the utility says customers should update their contact information through their mobile app, and sign up for outage alerts.
