Carlson, Angus

Angus “Beef” James Wesley Carlson (24) of Altona, IL passed away April 13, 2024, in a tragic side-by-side accident.

Angus was the son of Ryan “Blue” Carlson and Jennifer (Donsbach) Carlson. He was born on April 22, 1999, in Galesburg, IL. Known to the world as “Beef”, he was known to his three older sisters as “Brother”. Those two nicknames encompass his personality in a way that no other words can. He was a fun-loving friend and the very best baby brother and son.

Angus was a 2017 graduate of ROWVA High School. He worked hard and played hard. His family and friends recall his kind heart and the ridiculous things that would come out of his mouth making you laugh at the worst times. His sisters recall how he never failed to answer their call when their students had a question or they wanted to hide car problems from Dad. His parents remember how he never failed to check in with his Ma when out with friends.

He is survived by his parents, Blue and Jennifer Carlson, three sisters, Shelby Carlson (Galesburg), Montana Carlson (Altona), Harley Painter (Hoffman), a brother-in-law, Dalton Painter (Hoffman), girlfriend, Kelsey Whalen (Kewanee), neighbors and “second parents” Kevin and Linda Main, Grandfather, James Carlson (Oneida), and more close friends than can be listed. He was greeted in heaven by grandparents Maren (Hickock) Carlson and James and Mary Alice (Forney) Donsbach. Angus was also a cherished nephew and cousin.

His family invites you to celebrate his life at their house (1384 Knox Rd 2850 N, Altona, IL) at 5 p.m. Friday, April 19 with a bonfire and dinner. Memories in Angus’s honor can be made to the family to be distributed between FFA, 4-H, and Little John Conservation Club, three organizations dear to his family’s heart which made them dear to Angus who was always there to support his family.
