They did it again.

For the second time in three years, the Peoria Rivermen have won the cup in their hockey league.

And this time, they did it at home. The Rivermen defeated Huntsville 5-1 Sunday evening, winning the SPHL President’s Cup.

Alec Hagaman, who is retiring this time after changing his mind about doing it last year, scored two of the goals to make the victory.

The team says they are the first in SPHL history to come from a 1-0 series deficit to get the championship.

It’s the first time in 24 years the Rivermen have won a championship, in any of the leagues they’ve played in, on home ice.
