Wednesday: Touch A Truck

See, touch, explore, and more at Galesburg Parks and Recreation’s Touch A Truck, from 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesday Come to the Lake Storey Pavilion parking lot, rain or shine, and check out vehicles of all shapes and sizes, including various equipment trucks, mobile studios, buses, and first responder vehicles. This family-friendly event is great for the kids and is completely free, though registration is encouraged, here.  

 

Friday: Caxton Reading Series

A literary organization on the Knox College campus, Caxton Club brings several high-profile poets, novelists, and essayists to its campus every term to read their works to the community. Listen to Eduardo Corral, American poet and the first Latino recipient of the Yale Younger Series Poet Award for Slow Lightning, read aloud in the Alumni Room at Old Main at Knox College, from 4-5 p.m. This event is free and open to the public, no registration is required. Q&A will take place after the reading. 

 

Saturday: Farmers Market is Open for the Season!

Come shop outside, rain or shine, at the first farmers market of the season! Galesburg Farmers’ Market opens from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 4 at the corner of Simmons and Seminary streets. Shop goods from local farmers and makers, like produce and meats, baked and prepared goods, as well as handmade crafts and honey. The season runs May through September. Saturday: Second Annual G-ALES-BURG Beer Fest

Reserve Artisan Ales is hosting and serving up craft brews at year two of the G-ALES-BURG Beer Fest benefiting the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation on from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at The Vault at Reserve Artisan Ales! Sip your way through 75+ flavors of brews, from 25+ breweries, while dining on delicious Big Catz BBQ and listening to live music by Angela Meyer. There are surprises in store and tickets are only sold online, so get them today! 

 

Through Sunday – Last Chance: Dinos at Discovery Depot

Before they go extinct, enjoy the dinosaurs at Discovery Depot! Dinosaurs: Land of Fire and Ice exhibit will be closing to the public on May 5. The second floor of the children’s museum will be closed from Tuesday, May 7 to Friday, May 10 for cleaning and rearranging, though the first floor will remain open and will be half priced admission.
