Not much in way of damage here from Tuesday’s storms

It’s not the first time strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible in Knox and Warren Counties this week, but the storms early Tuesday morning didn’t cause much more than an annoyance in this region.

The storms were enough to cause Tornado Watches in parts of the area, but the National Weather Service cancelled them before they could be allowed to expire.

Some areas only reported strong winds according to forecasters. But, not far away in Stark County, a tree ended up coming down and crossing the road on Illinois 93 near Elmira.

Farmington in Fulton County recorded a 60 mile per hour wind gust after 5:00 a.m.

Parts of Iowa and Missouri recorded wind gusts as well.

But the problems here were nothing compared to northern and eastern Oklahoma, which were in a termed “Particularly Dangerous Situation,” and a number of tornado reports were recorded.

Forecasters there will be out surveying damage Tuesday, especially in northeastern parts of that state.
