Mrs. Sonya Y. (Daniels) Currie, 62, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 8, 2024, in her home.

Sonya Currie was born July 7, 1961, in Chicago IL. To the late great Betty and Joseph. She grew up in the Auburn Gresham and Englewood community on the south side of Chicago and Graduated from Robinson High school. Sonya cherished her loved ones and worked hard to create a loving home for her children. She was also very very passionate about caring for others, and her door was always wide open. Which led to a fulfilling career in Home Health Care before becoming a Childcare provider. Sonya also had a love for cooking dancing and singing. She married Jimmie Currie in 2011 whom precedes her in death along with her Mother Katie Berry, Father Joseph Daniel, and her son Arlando “Booney” Daniel. Sonya leaves to cherish her precious memory

6-Siblings- Yolanda Daniel, Mariah Fuller (Nick), Sandra Webb (Tony), Ryan Lane, Derrick Daniel, Rodney Daniel. 8-Children: Steven Daniel (Samantha), Chad Daniel (Monique), Demetrius Daniel, Keith Daniel (Ashley),Shafonti Shields, Christina Daniel, and Pierre Daniel. 15 Grandkids: Naomi, Travion, Arlando Jr.,Zaniya,Chad, Journey, Trinity, Queen, Raegan, Zahmir, Kaylee, Zarii, Kyree, Ma’at, and Keilayah 2 Step Children Iyoka Langston and Jimmie Currie Jr. 3 non biological children whom she loved very much and dearly Michael Andrews Margaret Lingwall, and Marvin Young. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces Nephews friends and a very special friend Tony Stiger.

Sonya was such an amazing helping kind wonderful loving spirit to be around and her presence on this earth will surely be missed by all who knew her and she may be gone but she will never be forgotten her light will forever be bright and shine FOREVER.  

A funeral service will be at noon Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel with Minister Greg Vickers officiating.
