Mrs. Rebecca Sue “Becky” Hinckley, 72, of Galesburg, Illinois, died 12:14 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2024, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
She was born October 18, 1951, in Galesburg to James H. and Betty J. (Strode) Sherwood. She married Robert J. Hinckley on October 21, 1972, in Galesburg.
Surviving is her husband of 51 years, Robert Hinckley of Galesburg, two daughters, Jennifer L. Hinckley of Tequesta, Florida and Audra J. (and Steven) Meteisis of Edwards, Illinois, and three grandchildren, Jaxon Meteisis, Dawson Meteisis, and Finley Meteisis. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, James W. Sherwood, and an infant sister, Lisa Sherwood.
Becky graduated from Galesburg High School in 1969. She attended Western Illinois University in Macomb. When she was younger, she was a teller for the First National Bank in Galesburg. She then decided to stay home and take care of her husband and her daughters. Once her daughters were out of the home, she went back to work as the manager at Azer Clinic and later A.G. Edwards inc., both in Galesburg. She retired in 2004. She was a member of the P.E.O. and Soangetaha Country Club. Most of all, she loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who know her. Rebecca’s legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of her family friends and especially her grandchildren. May she rest in peace knowing she touched the lives of so many. The family would like to thank the OSF St. Mary Medical Center doctors and staff for the compassionate care that was given.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. Chaplain Jordan Knight will officiate. A private graveside service will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
