Lynch, Melvin

Melvin Franklin Lynch, 62, of Galesburg, Illinois, died Thursday, July 11, 2024, in the emergency room at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

Mel or Frank as some knew him, was born September 5, 1961, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the son of Patricia Ann (France) and Melvin Cleo Lynch.  Mel was an independent over the road truck driver for 26 years, retiring on August 23, 2021.  On July 30, 2005, Mel and Karen Jean (Shoemake) Stockman were united in marriage in Galesburg, Illinois.  She survives as does Mel’s father, Melvin of Monmouth, Illinois; one daughter, Anna (Bryan) Bock of Fallon, Nevada; two grandchildren, Emma Coleman and Abbi Coleman; and one sister, Madeline Smith of Boston, Massachusetts.  He was preceded in death by his mother.  

Having spent much of his time on the road, when home, Melvin enjoyed the peace and quiet of his house.  He enjoyed going out to eat, reading, keeping up with all the latest news, and loved communicating with family and friends on Facebook.  He was a dedicated truck driver, spending many years and miles throughout the United States.

Cremation rites will be accorded.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  In lieu of any flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in care of the funeral home to assist with expenses.  Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
