Galesburg Police say there’s yet another phone scam to look out for.
Police say the scam they were made aware of Thursday involves making a spoofed call that looks like it’s from the police department’s (309) 343-9151 phone number, with the caller identifying themselves as a police officer.
Authorities believe the call was offering the opportunity to pay for warrants and citations, which police say they will never actually do over the phone.
They say you should never give bank or credit card information out over the phone, and instead you should try to get information out of them.
Police also say you should alert your bank that you received such a call, and make a police report.
