A fire has caused a lot of damage to a home on East Main Street in Galesburg.
All on-duty Galesburg firefighters went to the home at Main and Silver Streets around 2:15 Wednesday morning. Chief Randy Hovind says four people were asleep at the time fire broke out, but they were able to safely evacuate.
Hovind says the cause of the fire is believed to be unintentional, but otherwise doesn’t say where it started.
Damage estimates are around $30,000.
Fire is believed to have flared back up late Wednesday morning, but crews cleared the scene just before noon.
No one was hurt.
Sources say the home was believed to be a rental property at the time of the fire.
