Sandra S. Smith, 65, of Galesburg went to be with her Lord and Savior at 12:23 p.m., Friday, August 30, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 23, 1959 in Galesburg, the daughter of Ronald B. and Dolores J. (Tharp) Starr. She attended Galesburg schools and graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1977. She married Willard “Scott” Smith on November 18, 1978 in Williamsfield.
Sandra was very involved in her community and church and was proud to be an EMT/First Responder for 25 years with the Williamsfield Fire Department. She had worked for Wight Chevrolet in Williamsfield and at Yemm Chevrolet in Galesburg. She attended the Oaks Community Church in Dahinda.
Survivors include her husband, Scott, three sons: Scott R. (Amanda) Smith of Galesburg, Seth R. Smith of Canton and Spencer R. Smith of Peoria, her two grandchildren, Lucian Smith and Heaven Edwards, and a great grandson, Atlas. Also surviving are her sister, Rhonda (Steve) Kistler of Galesburg, sisters-in-law, Connie Starr of Tremont, Donna Starr of Bartonville, Denise (Steve) Best of Cambridge and Anita (Ian) Baird of Yates City and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Steven, Duff and Doug Starr, sister-in-law, Teresa Reed and her in-laws, Gene and Helen Smith.
Cremation will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 7 at The Oaks Community Church in Dahinda. The visitation will be from noon until the time of service at the church. Inurnment will be held at Williamsfield Cemetery. Rux Funeral Home in Williamsfield is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Williamsfield Alumni Scholarship Fund or to the Galesburg Christian School.
