A Galesburg man has entered a not guilty plea to charges in Knox County accusing him of shooting a gun while at his home a month ago.

Knox County Court records indicate Leslie Mixon, 60, entered the plea Tuesday to felony charges of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm while his FOID card was revoked.

A judge the day before found probable cause for Mixon to be tried, and for him to remain in custody until trial.

Galesburg Police went to a home on East Brooks Street August 16th for a disturbance call, and learned Mixon had fired several shots from the back yard.

A search of the home allegedly turned up 15 different guns, including what police termed at the time an “AR-style rifle.”

Mixon will next be in court October seventh for a pre-trial hearing.

Court records indicate similar charges filed against Mixon during an incident in 2021 were later dismissed.  But, because he is a convicted felon, he is ineligible to possess firearms under Illinois law.
