A Peoria-area man faces a host of charges after he allegedly came to Galesburg to try and have sexual contact with a minor.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says Kevin Cooper, 32, of Havana was arrested and taken to the Knox County Jail on charges including Solicitation to Meet a Child, Traveling to Meet a Child, Indecent Solicitation of a Child, Grooming, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, and having No Valid Drivers License.
Sheriff Jack Harlan says his investigators learned Cooper was communicating with a 15-year-old minor travelling to Galesburg and having booked a hotel room — all allegedly to have sex with the minor and provide marijuana.
Harlan says deputies were able to arrest Cooper Tuesday while he was on his way to pick the minor up.
No word on when Cooper will be in court.
Harlan, meanwhile, urges parents to be aware of their children’s social media accounts, and who they may be talking with.
