OSF HealthCare is expanding its footprint in Galesburg once again.
The Peoria-based organization says they will start, by the end of the year, a 7,000 square foot expansion of the Emergency Room at Saint Mary Medical Center.
The work is expected to cost around $5 million, but the hospital says the E.R. will remain open during the construction.
They say they will use “innovative space planning,” adding six exam rooms and one additional triage room.
“This redesign is a crucial step in enhancing the quality care we deliver, elevating patient experiences, and addressing the evolving needs of our community,” said Lisa DeKezel, president, OSF HealthCare St. Mary Medical Center, in a news release.
While the E.R. remains open, OSF says patients may be directed to an alternate entrance, for which signs will be posted.
Work is expected to last eighteen months.
