Authorities in Henderson County say three people — including one from Monmouth — are accused of trying to solicit someone they thought was a minor, for sex.
The Henderson County Sheriffs Office says 49-year-old Brock Smith of Monmouth, 55-year-old Steven Howard of Keithsburg, and 28-year-old Marc Moehn of Burlington, Iowa, were recently arrested on charges including Grooming and Indecent Solicitation of a Child.
Each faces other charges, as indicated below, according to the Sheriffs Office.
Investigators say they started to look into the matter in July, when each of the three allegedly started chatting through social media with someone each thought was a minor female.
Smith and Howard were ordered to remain held in the Henderson County Jail until trial, with pre-trial conferences scheduled for October 23rd.
A court case for Moehn is unavailable.
The sheriffs office urges parents to be “vigilant” about their child’s social media usage.
